Memories

First, I would like to pause in remembrance of 9-11. There are no words that can express the grief and devastation it caused. I also hope every day that our soldiers overseas return safe and sound soon.

Now, here is another costume blog. I made these two costumes for my students Halloween of 2005. Again, I eschew real period authenticity, and aim for the overall effect. So there they are... the Roman soldier and the Roman lady. The soldier outfit was made of burgundy vinyl which was actually very easy to work with. I used my sewing machine and put in metal grommets in the sides. The undertunic was just a rectangular piece of muslin folded over with holes for the head and arms.
The dress was draped on my dress form and I used some gold sequined fabric to give it some interesting details.
