Blue Satin/Chiffon dress

Here's my latest creation.
I bought the fabrics months ago. The bottom layer is a light-blue satin. The top layer is a blue/black chiffon.
I made this to wear to my friend's engagement party.
Of course, as usual, I was still sewing the day of the engagement. I hate invisible zippers because they are so finicky. When I was putting on my dress, I had a hard time zipping up where the waist was since there's so much fabric there. Anyway, I finally zipped up, and the zipper gave way. I only had an hour to go before I had to be out of the door. I literally ripped out the zipper, found an old dress that I'd made that had a matching blue zipper and ripped that out. So then I sewed in a regular zipper. But regular zippers gape and are ugly so after I put on the dress, I stood in front of my long mirror and hand-sewed the fabric over the zipper closed.
But I love my new dress. It fits really well and is very comfortable.
I'm going to put in a new invisible zipper in. I think it may have also been the fact that my thread ran out in the middle of sewing in the zipper and maybe that had gotten caught.
I pleated the skirt by ironing it by hand. It took a long time.
(Here's a trick on making permanent creases: Add a little bit of vinegar to your water and use the steam setting on your iron.)
