My second attempt at a Civil War era gown. The blue skirt lies over a white underskirt which is the same fabric as the bodice. It made an effect I hadn't even thought about - the white fabric's pattern shows through the blue fabric and makes the dress more interesting.
I forget if I had put the gown over the hoopskirt I'd made, or over the one I'd bought at the garment district.
It's fun to wear around the house sometimes. I also made a corset to give the dress better support, but is not pictured.
