Here's another gown inspired by something Nicole Kidman wore. This is a modified version of the red dress she wears in "Moulin Rouge." I wore this to a Victorian ball. The bodice I made my own pattern, but the skirt, I used a pattern from my favorite reference book by Jean Hunnisett, Period Costume for Stage & Screen: Patterns for Women's Dress 1800 - 1909. The skirt is pattern sheet 39.
This is the book we used when I was taking my costume construction class and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make historic costumes.

the dress is beautiful, nice to see these dresses that you only told me about...we need to see some pictures of you in them!
